San Basak

Dr. Sanjukta (San) Basak completed her medical degree at McGill University, followed by a Paediatric residency and Paediatric Endocrinology fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and is an active member of numerous professional organizations including Canadian Pediatric Endocrine Group,  and Canadian Pediatric Society. In addition to her clinics at Kindercare, San works at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital in Scarborough in the Diabetes, Endocrinology and Healthy Outcomes Paediatric Program for Scarborough (HOPPS program) clinics.

San is also completing a Masters of Community Health with a focus on health practitioner and patient education at the University of Toronto. She is passionate about teaching and is actively involved in undergraduate medial education in the pediatric undergraduate medical education committee, and curriculum development. Additionally, she has been involved in creating a number of patient education materials at the Hospital for Sick Children. Her academic interests are in pediatric obesity, patient education, health literacy, nutrition education, hyperphagia, and Prader Willi syndrome. San has also taken additional training in theories of social behavior change, and motivational interviewing.
