Child Psychology:

What is a Child Psychologist?

  • Child psychologists and psychological associates assess and treat children, usually from infancy to adolescence. They are often consulted to assist children in managing stresses, school transitions, family problems etc. Some child psychologists help children with a variety of developmental issues like learning disabilities and severe mental illness.  Others provide therapy for a variety of conditions like depression, anxiety, eating disorders, parent attachment disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and a variety of other problems. Clinical child psychologists and psychological associates are provincially licensed.  The College of Psychologists of Ontario licenses and oversees the maintenance of certification for psychologists and psychological associates.
